      Can Tho province

Can Tho is located 169km from Ho Chi Minh city, its population was estimated at about one million inhabitants in 2006, taking into account all the constituent boroughs. Can Tho is the largest city in the Mekong Delta and the capital of the province of the same name. It was the scene of fierce fighting between U.S. troops and North Vietnamese in August 1967. Its climate is tropical, and suffers 2 seasons. The rainy season from May to November and the dry season from December to April. With an annual humidity of about 83% and a temperature of 27 ° C.
Delta college town and important communications hub, it is currently experiencing an economic boom and a significant tourism development with its many attractions (floating market, Ninh Kieu wharf). It is home to the ancient village of Long Tuyen. A flotilla of canoes and sampans loaded with fruits (grapefruit, longian, mango, durian ...) and vegetables each day drives the floating market of Can Tho, political and economic center of the Mekong Delta. Formed by the silt of the river which gives water an earthy color, this huge delta that currently covers 40,000 square kilometers annually earns 80m2 on the sea and is considered the "rice bowl of Vietnam," it provides just over 50% of the country's rice.
If it opens more to modernity with the development of an industrial base, particularly focusing on the textile and electronics, the city has, however, keep the poetry of rural villages and the scent of.
      People say to Can Tho:
"Can Tho gao trang nuoc trong,
Ai di den den do long khong muon ve."

"Can Tho, white rice, clear water,
All who comes wish never to leave."
Besides the numerous orchards, the main tourist attraction lies in the vicinity of many possible boat ride through the arroyos, towards the islands, among the maze of canals, floating markets of destination and the main tourist attraction in the region.
