Day 01: Arrival in Hanoi  

Welcome to Vietnam. Vietlanddiscovery’s guide and driver will be waiting for you at the airport to take you to Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi. Nothing was planned for to day, allowing you to rest after a demanding flight

Option: The program of the day will depend on your time to arrive, if you have time, you will have a pedicab ride (1 hour) in the old quarter of Hanoi and go visit the Dong Xuan Market

 

Day 02: Hanoi sightseeing & Streets food tours          (B, L)

Morning, leave hotel your experienced guide for a street food tour in old quarter of Hanoi along the perimeter of the market, dozens of street hawkers sell a staggering variety of produce from live seafood to exotic fruits and spices. Your guide will give you an insight into the intricacies and traditions of Vietnamese food culture including details on ingredients and historical backgrounds of popular northern dishes.

 

Walking through the maze of bustling streets that make up Hanoi’s Old Quarter, we tempt our taste buds with the famed Hanoi dish Banh Cuon at a local eatery. Watch in awe as the skilled chefs demonstrate for you how this tasty dish is put together. Continuing into the atmospheric heart of the Old Quarter, we wander past street stalls and quiet residential lanes where you can observe local life that has changed little since Hanoi was founded over 1000 years ago. 

Our next two snack stops are at outdoor barbeque stalls. We sit down with the Hanoi locals and sample various meat, vegetable and bread specialties that are flame grilled over hot coals for extra flavor.  It’s time for dessert as we venture down a small alley to join in the local tradition of feasting on fresh fruit served in a cup and smothered with crushed iced and condensed milk – this specialty is one not to be missed!

Your guide will then take you to one of Hanoi’s best kept secrets, a hidden café with stunning views over the picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake.  This hard-to-find café is one of the few left in the city that still serves egg coffee, a scrumptious local delicacy that we will sample whilst admiring the hustle and bustle of the city centre below. Or, if coffee is not your style, a cold beer awaits!.

 

Afternoon, enjoy a half-day tour of Vietnam’s capital by private vehicle, including the revered One-Pillar Pagoda. Pay visits to typical Vietnamese places of worship, Tran Quoc Pagoda, along the shore of West Lake. Just before noon, tour Vietnam’s first university, the thousand-year-old Temple of Literature. In the evening, enjoy a performance of the traditional Water Puppet show

Day 03: Hanoi – Mai Chau            (B, L)

Depart Hanoi for Mai Chau, in Hoa Binh province. This scenic area is home to many hill tribes, including the Dzao, Muong and Thai. We arrive in Pom Koong, a village of the ‘White Thai’, who predominantly inhabit the area. Lunch at local house. In the afternoon, walking around the White Thais villages. In the evening you can enjoy a traditional dance and a drink called Ruou Can, the local rice wine

Day 04: Mai Chau – Kenh Ga – Ninh Binh        (B, L)

You can go for a walk or bike through villages and rice fields. Then, transfer into Ninh Binh, ancient capital of Vietnam until the 11th century. Arrive in Ninh Binh and drop off at hotel. Afternoon, you will board on a small sampan and cruise on Tam Coc River, well known with name “Dry Ha Long on land”. You will then cycle from Tam Coc to Thai Vi temple and enjoy the quite atmosphere of the Tam Coc countryside.

Day 05: Ninh Binh sightseeing     (B)

Morning, you will cycle to Trang An Eco-Tourism area. Trang An Eco-Tourism complex is a home of 600 kinds of flora and over 200 kinds of fauna that many of them in the Red book of Vietnam. It is also a gathering of 31 valleys, 48 cross-water caves and we will visit 3 to 6 of them. On the rowing boat, you can enjoy the fresh air, clean and clear water with under water grass. Experience ourselves the feeling and emotion when we are on the water caves….

 

After lunch at local house, you will then cycle on narrow path to Mua Cave cave where you will climb 450 stairs and enjoy a spectacular view of Land Halong Bay from the top. Afternoon, visit Bai Dinh pagoda, this is a largest cultural site of south-east Asia : magnificent, gigantic with its over 100 tone golden Buddha, its 500 smaller ones, its 500 meters long alleys and its 500 tone bell

Day 06: Ninh Binh – Ha Long                          (B, L, D)

After your breakfast, you will be on your way to Ha Long bay, for a road trip that will take you through the Red River delta and during the length of which you will be surrounded by Vietnamese countryside every day life scenes. In Ha Long you will board a traditional junk to discover a 1500 sq.km-wide site that includes 3000 islands and rock formations, proudly emerging from the water for everyone to admire their fantastic shapes.        

-         11h30 -12h15: Arriving at the jetty

-         12h30: transfer to junk

-         13h00: Enjoy local sea food lunch while the junk sails to Ha Long Bay

-         15h00: Visit Cave - Explore the most famous grotto in entire Halong Bay

-         16h30: Visit Titov Beach – You can climb up to the top of the island getting the whole view of Halong Bay or swimming on the very descent beach

-         18h00: Overnight anchorage near Titov and enjoy the sunset

-         19h30: Savor our Set-dinner in dinning room

-         21h00: Activities: Relax on sundeck or night time fishing

Day 07: Ha Long – Hanoi – Hue   (B, Brunch)

You will have breakfast on-board, while the cruise proceeds towards the Tunnel Cave, which will be visited on small sampans . You will then return on your now familiar junk to visit Bai Tu Long bay. Landing will occur around 11.45 am. You will then heading back to Hanoi to take a flight to Hue, the country’s capital under Nguyen Dynasty(1802-1954), 654 km south of Hanoi. This city, in which the «Perfume River» meanders, inspired many poets. There is a melancholic charm and a special sweetness to Hue, thanks to its palaces, shrines, refined food and the gentle voice of local women. Your guide will welcome you at the airport to take you to your hotel.

Day 08:  Hue sightseeing    (B, L)

You will begin this morning with a sunrise breakfast. Then you will take a private boat trip up the Perfume River past some dreamy countryside and charming scenes of Vietnamese daily life to Thien Mu pagoda. Continue on to explore the Royal Tomb of Tu Duc, the majestic Imperial Citadel of Hue and finish the day by visiting Dong Ba market

Day 09: Hue – Da Nang – Hoi An  (B, L)

Drive to Hoi An via scenic Hai Van Pass, where we enjoy the spectacular panorama of the central coastline from the summit. Stop at Lang Co to stretch your legs and enjoy the white sand of this peaceful beach. Upon arrival in Da Nang, visit Cham Museum and Marble Mountain. Continue by road to the ancient town of Hoi An. Afternoon, enjoy a walking tour through the narrow winding streets of the Ancient Quarter visiting Chua Ong Pagoda, Chinese Assembly Halls, the 200-year old Tam Ky ancestral house, and the Japanese Bridge. End the day with a cruise up Thu Bon River to visit Thanh Ha pottery village.

Day 11: Hoi An – Tra Que Village – Saigon      (B, L)

Tra Que Vegetable Village is 3 km far from Hoi An old town on the direction of northeast.  This land was formed 300 years ago, surrounded by De Vong River and Tra Que Lagoon, so it has very good atmosphere with fresh air.... From the village of Tra Que, vegetables of many kinds have been provided for restaurants, hotels, Hoi An’s people as well as for other localities in Quang Nam Province and Danang City. Many kinds of organic and sweet smelling herbs have been planting in this area for ages. Tra Que’s raw vegetables have been added up to make aromatic flavor to specialties of this village such as Tam Huu, Banh Xeo, Quang noodle, and vegetables cooked with garlic and so on.    

 

Especially, the vegetable village has several herbs containing medicine that is good for health and made up oriental medicines (also called Vietnamese Traditional Medicines). Coming to Tra Que Vegetable Village, you will perceive cultural cachet of the traditional village. You will see the landscape of the green, clean and picturesque vegetable village with your own eyes. Together with the local farmers, you can exchange, investigate the techniques of cultivation, care and harvest of vegetables. Your feet will be looked after by traditional medical methods (your feet are soaked in a basin with boiled water cooked with some medicinal herbs gathered from garden). Combining with foot massage, your feet will be well- treated after couple hours of walking around. After the tour to Tra Que Vegetable Village, you will understand better the joyful simple life of local people here.

 

Then, you will transfer to Da Nang airport to take the flight to Saigon. Our car and guide will pick you up at the airport then transfer you to the hotel

Day 12: Saigon – Cu Chi – Saigon Sightseeing             (B, L)

Morning, the road will take you towards Cu Chi’s tunnels. 60 km away from Saigon city center, this very elaborated underground network, 250 km long with many different layers, branches to create a small city under ground, built during the war against the US army.

 

Back to Saigon in the afternoon, you will visit Saigon, economic capital of Vietnam. Tour will start with a visit to the Reunification Palace, War Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral and the central post office designed by Gustave Eiffel. You will stroll around Cho Lon market in the Chinese quarter and visit Thien Hau pagoda

Day 13: Sai Gon – Cai Be floating market – Vinh Long – Can Tho  (B, L)

Depart Saigon for Cai Be floating market in the Mekong delta region, highly fertile region thus dubbed « Vietnam’s rice basket ». Frequently flooded by the river, most of transportation is organized on waterways.

 

In Cai Be, after visit craft villages, lunch will be served in Xeo May bonsaïs garden. A boat trip will take you to Hoa Khanh village where you go on a bicycle ride through the village, watching daily life of local people here. Your driver will then take you to Can Tho where you will spend the night.

Day 14: Can Tho – Cai Rang floating market – Saigon           (B, L)

Early in the morning, you will board a boat to witness the live spectacle of CIA Rang floating market. The setting is beautiful : hundreds of merchants on motorized sampans filled with rice, fruits and handicraft products gather to exchange. Leaving this agitation behind, you will visit Binh Thuy house. Back in Saigon towards the end of the afternoon and settle in your hotel after having been in Long Dinh village, famous for its hand woven mats

Day 15: Saigon Departure  (B)

Some free time will allow you on this last day to stroll freely around Saigon. We will then take you to the airport where you will board your international flight back.
